This month we look at common food and chemical concerns for mom and baby. Some foods cause adverse reactions in both the mother and the nursing baby for these reasons we need the best dietitian or nutritionist for proper guideline. These are usually Diet For Mother  eggs, cow’s milk, peanuts, wheat and fish. Symptoms to look out for include headaches or migraines, diarrhea, skin rashes, irritability or fatigue. These symptoms are associated with an immune response to certain foods (allergies) or a reaction to eating certain chemicals (intolerance).

Tip: If you know that you react badly to a certain food, it is best to avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Doing so can reduce the risk of your child inheriting food sensitivities.

When it comes to adverse reactions to food, it also helps to think about any added chemicals, colors, flavors or preservatives. For example, when purchasing supplements such as vitamins, be aware of the source of the ingredients used to make the capsules. 

Some vitamins, such as soy-derived vitamin E, may irritate a child with a soy allergy. And many food colors are associated with intolerance symptoms such as lethargy, irritability and poor concentration. An anthropomorphic approach to nutrition emphasizes lots of natural, organic, and biodynamic vegetables and grains. An anthroposophic diet provides best nutrition for the digestive system and fewer toxic symptoms such as constipation and headaches.

I thought it was helpful to mention sugar in this article because sugar cravings are common among new moms. Refined sugars are high in the modern diet, and in some people, they trigger symptoms in the body that resemble an allergic reaction, such as skin irritation, headaches, inflammation and hyperactivity. If this sounds like you, it’s best to avoid overindulging in sugar by following these simple tips:

  • Make sure you eat enough protein to keep your energy levels balanced.
  • Consult your naturopath or doctor for any evidence of poor blood glucose management. It is linked to many common health conditions such as metabolic syndrome, obesity, polycystic ovaries and adult acne.
  • Chewing licorice root is believed to not only help lower blood sugar levels and reduce cravings, but also help reduce addictions such as smoking.
  • Eat plenty of bitter foods like rocket, cress, radicchio and sprouts and boost your digestion!
  • For example, pumpkin, beans, and fennel in a casserole offer a high-protein, lactation-stimulating meal.

However, not all new mothers will experience diabetes symptoms, and many can benefit from the energy provided by this carbohydrate. The physical demands of motherhood require a lot of energy, and it’s normal for new moms to experience fatigue! Sugar is also essential for brain function. It also provides a strong antibacterial preservative for many medicines and herbal tonics such as blackthorn elixir.

Saccharin

This sweetening agent poses significant health risks such as the development of skin conditions such as pruritus and urticaria in young adults. In children it can cause irritability, hypertonia, insomnia, severe pain and strabismus. Extreme cases of saccharin reactions are associated with wheezing, nausea, diarrhea, tongue blisters, tachycardia, rash, and headache. Avoid it at all costs!

Lactose

This milk sugar is used as a base for various powders, tablets and pharmaceutical preparations. This is mostly safe and only really becomes a problem if a child is lactose intolerant, and lacks lactase, the enzyme needed to break down milk products. Lactose intolerance can cause pain, diarrhea, cramping, bloating or flatulence.
